If you’ve been following along on my blog or Instagram, you’ve probably seen me talk about my current WIP and when I started writing it. It’s a series I’ll refer to as the Autumn Series that I’ve been working on for over 10 years now.
The story of Autumn is like a baby to me. It’s something I’ve been plotting and thinking about for a very long time. It’s incredibly close to my heart. It’s been in the making since 2007 but I’ve never done anything with it yet. Until now.
After my son was born, I knew I needed to show him what it meant to follow a dream. So, it was time to make my dream of becoming an author a reality. For the last year and a half, I’ve been working on doing just that with my Autumn WIP series.
Going Back In Time
Obviously, like has changed a lot for me since 2007. But that was a time in my life where my writing was a huge part of my life! So, I thought it would be fun to start a little series where I talk about how my writing journey truly began.
I’ve always known I wanted to be a writer. I would play around with story ideas when I was in middle school, but it was just for fun. It wasn’t until 2007 that I finally made the decision to “put pen to paper” and make my ideas come to life.

What Life Was Like For Me In 2007
It was in the fall of 2007 that I began my writing process. It was how I spent a majority of my time!
I had graduated high school in 2006 and took a year off from college because I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do. But in the fall of 2007, I began taking classes at my local community college. I was a full-time student taking a full day of classes two days a week. In the meantime, I was also working part-time at a bank to make money.
In terms of friends, I did have some. But it was kind of weird time in my life. My friends from high school had all gone off to do their own things whether it was going away to school or whatnot. I lost touch with most of them. I was close to my sister during my year off, but then she went away to school in the fall of 2007. My best friend at the time was still in high school, so her days were busy. I had basically zero dating life, so that wasn’t getting in my way.
It sort of happened that I had a lot of time to myself. I didn’t mind it. I kind of enjoyed it. In any case, this was how I had so much time to spend writing. My schedule made it kind of perfect to sit down and write.
What To Expect From The 2007 Series
I want to travel back in time to talk about what my life was like for me in 2007 and how I dove into my writing journey. It stands out in my mind as such a turning point in my author dream.
I want to share this all with you in the hopes that it might inspire others to start their writing dream or remind them why they began in the first place. It’s meant to be motivational while also giving you a little inside peek at what makes me and my WIP tic.
I’m also hoping that by diving back into where I started with this story will help me in my writing as well. It could inspire me, too!
I’m really looking forward to sharing this will you all. It’s so personal for me and my story but it’s so hugely a part of who I am. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
